There is mandelbulber (http://mandelbulber.com/) which is for high detail 3d fractal renders. Incredibly fun to use.
Also, please add Clip Studio Paint (http://www.clipstudio.net/en) to the list.

Isn't Paint.net extremely basic. I've use Photoshop for some of the classes that I'm in at school, and wanted to do some at home. I used Paint.net and in my opinion, at least for the version I have, it's much harder to use Paint.net than it is to use Photoshop.

The Art Weaver link doesn't work. It should be just http://www.artweaver.de/

5/18/10 Art101 responds:

Thanks for pointing that out; it should work now.

I had artrage 2 installed on my previous computer.
But the computer crashed, and I had to buy a new one.
And now the license code of my wacom, to install artrage, isn't lethal anymore.
What do I do? :(

5/18/10 Art101 responds:

That`s too bad. I suggest choosing one of the free alternatives.

Gimp: Open-Source Photo Editor. Almost as powerful as Photoshop
(I've seen better results with Gimp)

I think there's something wrong with LiveSwif. I downloaded, installed but every time I run it I get the same error or it just closes after about 2-10 seconds.

5/18/10 Art101 responds:

For technical issues please refer to your software manufacturer

Autodesk SketchBook is another artist-oriented program:
http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/
index?id=6848332&siteID=123112

It's extremely lightweight; Not as many options and filters as P-shop, but that might keep you from being distracted.
and it's relatively cheap. ($100?)

I don't know too much about paint tool SAI
http://www.systemax.jp/en/sai/
but people might want to check it out just to say "i use Japanese software"

Maybe you could post maya as an alternative to blender.
It's basically the same thing but I could be wrong.

3/7/09 Art101 responds:

the only reason I put blender was because it's free. If I put Maya, then I'll have to make a 3D section, but I think this is way too complex for people who don't even know about the well known programs or can't afford them.

Maya, 3D studiomax, autocad...they're not focused on drawing

if your including 2D + 3D programs (ones with both in it) then I would add Blender3D

3/5/09 Art101 responds:

kay

There's a program called Anime Studio.

3/5/09 Art101 responds:

I see lots of art programs, but I want to focus more on building a library of free/well known programs

Don't forget Paint Shop Pro!

3/5/09 Art101 responds:

-Iscribble.net : FREE

An internet application run with (Java? please correct me if i'm wrong) Incredibly useful if your in a drawing mood and would like to share that "mood" with others alike :D . Inspiration is a MUST when joining the website.

Have fun.

3/5/09 Art101 responds:

great. Any other online drawing apps you know about?

PaperWarioPaperWario

2/28/09

Particle Illusion is great to mess around with. Rather pricey, though.

3/5/09 Art101 responds:

Sounds like an interesting program, but I'm looking for more cheaper ones, because that's what people usually have problems with.

paint.net

3/5/09 Art101 responds:

yes...it's on there. What about it?

But liveswf is more basic animation than art program.

Put in GIMP 2.6!

3/5/09 Art101 responds:

I'd say any program that lets you draw and be creative is an art program. and 2.6? Isn't it in the link?

3/5/09 (Updated 3/5/09) Art101 responds:

gimp is cool

3/5/09 Art101 responds:

I wouldn't know. A short summary of that program would be great!
